About us

Tecsa S.r.l. is a consulting company, founded in 1979 by Carlo Fiorentini, which operates both nationally and internationally in the field of safety, the environment, fire protection, management and forensic engineering systems. Currently the company consists of 28 technicians, or which 20 are at senior level.

Tecsa S.r.l. mainly operates from its offices (HQs) located in Pero (Milan) – Italy.

Over the years the structure and the members of senior management have become a point of reference in the panorama of industrial safety (particularly in the area of process industry facilities and in light of the Seveso directive) and fire engineering including design of Performance Based Fire Engineering.

One specific chapter describes the history of the company and in particular its establishment and early years as evidence of a continuity of operation which over time has resulted in the assuming of a leading role in the Italian panorama of fire engineering and industrial risk analysis with particular reference to sites subject to the Seveso Directive application.

The Tecsa technicians are authors of books and numerous articles in scientific journals for which they also operate as reviewers or members of the editorial board. They participate in many reference associations operating internationally, in Italian, European and international technical standardisation and regulation committees; they provide technical consultancy for prosecutors and judges regarding incidents of national significance on the occurrence of fires and explosions; they carry out teaching activities both at university level and on safety and fire prevention courses organised by professional associations.

Tecsa S.r.l. makes use of a number of national and international collaborations with universities, research institutes and individual professionals and engineering and consultancy companies with  proven experience of specialist activities in support of the core corporate business of reference.

Tecsa S.r.l. is a private company whose entire share capital is held by the shareholders that work for the company.

The Executive Director of Tecsa S.r.l. is Luca Fiorentini.

The Tecsa engineering and consultancy activities have always been performed with methodological and scientific rigour in compliance with legal requirements and with the deadlines defined by customers. The entire process of development of the specialist consultancy activities has been certified since 30th July 2004 according to the standard UNI EN ISO 9001 (now 9001:2008). The relevant paragraph illustrates a number of details concerning the quality management system implemented by TECSA S.r.l.

Since June 2015, together with the definition of official partnerships with similar companies in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, TECSA S.r.l. has adopted the method of PRINCE2 projects of planning and management, edition 2009 as part of its continuous improvement process and maximum integration with its partners, which TECSA S.r.l. represents in Italy and with whom it operates in Europe and worldwide from its Italian offices and from those of its partners.

The activities are supported by constantly updated methods and tools including calculation codes and advanced simulation codes (including FEM and CFD). Special attention is given to research and development activities supported by a “Systems” and an “R&D” division dedicated to the development and validation of numerical codes and integrated software packages. The research activities are very often conducted with European partners who are also contributors to the academic community.

Over the years the significant company growth in specific sectors led, mid-2015 in particular, to the definition of two specialist divisions governed by internationally recognised experts and related, respectively, to the areas of “Operational Excellence” applied to the process industry and “Forensic engineering” (MFCForensic). Similarly, over the years, the target market starting from the refining and petrochemicals world, was extended to the military sector, the transport sector and to critical infrastructures (including ports, airports, railway terminals and stations).

In support of the operational activities in the areas of interest and of the teaching activities at university level, the senior management of the company participates in numerous  technical and scientific associations of national and international relevance as well as contributing to the sharing of know-how and of the findings of specialist and research and development activities through the drafting of texts, monographs, articles and through peer review on behalf of prestigious international scientific journals.   All of these aspects are further detailed on the pages dedicated to associations and publications.
