MODELLING OF SITE EFFECTS AND TERRAIN MORPHOLOGY IN THE QUANTIFICATION OF DETONATION DAMAGE

2025 / Industrial risk analysis / Industries

As part of a safety study conducted by Tecsa to assess the territorial compatibility of a site, the analysis focused not only on the frequency of potential explosions but also on estimating the associated damage. For this modelling, the software used allows access to integrated databases or the import of customised terrain models in .stl format.

The study was carried out using a dedicated tool, specifically Viper::Blast, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-based tool designed to simulate the explosion environment resulting from the detonation of high-potency, high-energy explosives.
In order to use files in .stl format, the workflow was optimised using intermediate software: Blender 4.5.
