TECSA Takes Center Stage at the 10th International Conference on Forest Fire Research in Coimbra

From October 31 to November 6, 2026, Coimbra (Portugal) will host the “10th International Conference on Forest Fire Research“, scheduled to take place alongside the “9th International Wildland Fire Safety Summit”, one of the most important international events dedicated to research, prevention, and risk management related to wildfires.

In this prestigious international setting, Luca Fiorentini, Director of TECSA S.r.l., will present a paper titled “Wildfire Safety at Seveso Sites: Repercussions on the Safety Management System”, developed in collaboration with Romualdo Marrazzo, Head of the Integrated Industrial Risk Analysis Section at ISPRA – Ministry of the Environment.

The paper addresses a particularly timely issue related to the increasing frequency and intensity of wildland-urban interface fires—phenomena that can pose a significant threat even to industrial facilities subject to the Seveso Directive.

The presentation will analyze the potential impact of such events on the safety of facilities at risk of a major accident, highlighting the need to incorporate interface fire scenarios into safety analyses and risk assessments. The study also examines in depth the prevention, protection, and control measures that should be incorporated into the Safety Management System for the Prevention of Major Accidents in order to increase the resilience of facilities against this specific external risk.
