To characterize the dispersion of pollutants for conceivable accident scenarios, a simulation was conducted using the FDS computational fluid dynamics code, released by NIST.
Since, in the case under examination, the waste was typically stored inside big bags containing mainly rags soaked in hydrocarbons, plastic packaging, wood, and metallic materials, the scenario “Fire involving waste materials contained in big bags” was modeled.
